If you’re a matte lipstick lover like me then you will understand why I love wearing lip liner as lipstick. They are completely matte and last a really long time on the lips, which is prime for those of you who, like me, hate reapplying lipstick throughout the day. MAC lip liners are my favorite, but I also enjoy the more affordable lip liners from ColourPop. I find they have the best selection of colors and their formula is very creamy, yet matte.
ColourPop| I have five lip liner favorites from ColourPop that I enjoying wearing on their own. I am pretty new to the brand, but when I made my order I went a little HAM with the lip products, but I ain’t mad. This is a brand that has really blown up on Instagram, YouTube, and in the beauty community within the last year. While other hyped brands, such as Gerard Cosmetics, do not deserve the hype (in my opinion), ColourPop definitely does, but that will be a different post! My favorite lip liners to wear as lipsticks from them are Lumiere, Brink, Bichette, LBB, and Dalia. Lumiere is a beautiful mauve nude that is really on trend with the whole 90s lip that has made a comeback. Out of all of them, this is my most reached for. Brink is a warm dusty taupe nude that is more on the nude side than Lumiere. Bichette is a dark reddish wine shade that looks stunning, and LBB is a dark pink red that is great if you want some depth to your red lip shade. Last is Dalia, which is the vampiest of the shades I own; it is a deep burgundy wine shade that will be perfect for the fall and winter.
MAC| My favorite lip liners to wear as lipsticks from MAC are Spice, Whirl, Soar, Chicory, and Beet. Spice is a very brown toned nude lip liner; Whirl is a brown toned pinky nude lip liner; Soar is a more pink mauve toned nude lip liner; Chicory is a peachy brown toned lip liner, and it is very unique in my opinion. Beet is a reddish pink toned lip liner, which, as you can imagine, is the shade of a beet. My favorite out of the five would have to be Soar just because it is great for a pop of pink on the lip, but it isn’t overly pink. I generally do not like wearing pink lipstick or lip liner because I don’t really like them on me, but this one is just the perfect pinky neutral that is gorgeous on literally everyone. If you want something for a night out, I would suggest Beet. It looks gorgeous on every skin tone and it just adds the right amount of bold glam to your look. I loved this immensely this past winter when I first picked it up, and any time I went for a red or burgundy lip I always lined my lips with this one.
MAC is hands down my favorite brand for lip liners because they have a large variety, you get a lot of product, and I like their formula because they are creamy, yet firm. For more affordable lip liners I really enjoy ColourPop. They have a really nice range of lip shades, but as you can see I stick to the more neutral mauve nudes or dark reddish/wine shades, but if you prefer more corals and bright spring shades they have those as well!
